Replacement Sync2 unit to fix Bluetooth chip failure
This is the central dash unit with the 8" screen that fits Ford cars of around 2014 to 2016 vintage.
It is based on a Microsoft operating system which is replaced in the next version (Sync3) by a OS called XNS (some form of open unix I guess) The hardware of Sync3 is also different.
My Sync2 unit came out of a Mustang but was fitted into my Mondeo.
They are totally configurable if you have the Forscan software so although the unit I purchased did not run Sat Nav, I reconfigured and loaded the App so now it does.
The physical swap is easy and involves removing some trim and then some small star bolts.
The issue with my Sync2 unit was a failure of the Bluetooth so I could not connect to my phone.
With the new unit all functions are working again.
I've only rated it 4 stars because Ford later revised both the hardware and software.
From a cost perspective point of view it was the cheapest way to fix my Bluetooth woes.
