Cushing & Lee at their best
Had been searching for a genuine edition of this film at a sensible price for some time, and the picture and sound quality is very good for a 70s original. Previously thought this was a Hammer film, but no matter, Cushing & Lee are at their peerless best, with the usual relationship of Lee the controlling character and Cushing the underdog. (CL was actually well in the zone for playing rotters at the time, as he did "Wicker Man" the same year I think.)
Only criticism is the fact that the middle section of the film - where the deranged daughter goes on the rampage - goes on a bit too long, and I would have liked more time in the film devoted to "the creature", but it is nevertheless atmospheric and creepy, with a good twist at the end.
