Oldie = would be goodie except for words like "dago!"
Although this mystery has a lot of the flaws of many 1930s era mysteries - flimsy plotting - entire solutions based on implausible speculation, etc - it would still be readable if not for the major prejudice expressed in it. I really like Josephine Tey, and think she can write - "Daughter rof Time" is one of my favorite mysteries of all time - but this one is based on the notion that stabbing someone with a dagger is "unBritish" and so the crime must have been committed by a Dago. Once this was decided, Inspector Grant based his entire investigation on searching for a dago. To my more modern ears, it grates. I shouldn't be saying this, as I'm going to resell the audio book and don't need to shoot myself in the foot - but, really, you ought to be warned. If you can get past this prejudice, then the writing is actually pretty good and Grant is a fun, if dated, detective to follow.

Rosemary & Thyme Series 2 DVD
3 of 4 found this helpful I had seen season 1 and think season 2 is even better. This is a delightful British series with super acting and just for fun. A mystery format, the mysteries are just a framework for two wonderful women who look like real people - beautiful and charming - to do their stuff. I'm so glad British television still is able to produce something this splendid - U.S. television simply won't/can't do it - and probably is incapable of doing it!

this is a fun series from the 90s. Since it's British, many people don't know about it - but it's a relaxing and witty read - should have lots of fans
