It's not ideal, but it works
The good news is, it works. The bad news is that it's basically a generic controller which has been reprogrammed to work with my decade-old Denon receiver, which means that most of the buttons are irrelevant. There are no Denon-specific instructions included, so it took some experimentation to figure out which buttons did what. Since the OEM remote is "unobtanium", I'm happy that this was available. It's not ideal, but it does the job!

Lives up to its reputation
Nice, big display in a small chassis. The footprint is not much bigger than that of my Acer TimelineX it replaced, but the screen is an order of magnitude better. The 1920 x 1280 display is more than adequate, the matte finish shows minimal reflections in room lighting and I don't use the touch screen anyway.
The speed is more than acceptable for anything I do (mainly putting together PowerPoint presentations) and it only takes 11 seconds to come back from hibernation. Battery life is excellent -- I have yet to run below 50% after a full day of "regular" use. I would guess about it would give more than 8 hours of screen-on-time. The keyboard with the short travel takes a bit of getting used to, but that comes with the Ultrabook territory; propping the back up about an inch seems to help. The spacing of the keys is fine (actually same key pitch as my generic desktop keyboard.
On the downside, I miss the VGA and Ethernet ports (but again, that comes with the territory on Ultrabooks) and the position of the camera *is* awkward (but then, I'm told that my chin is one of my best features).
This was a refurb made in early 2015 so it has the previous (Broadwell?) generation processor, but the several hundred dollar saving over new makes it more than worthwhile (actually, the 8GB/256GB non-touch configuration is no longer available). The system I got was in "new" condition, with no flaws that I could find. Upgrading from Windows 8.1 to 10 took a couple of hours, as expected.
All in all, I'm quite happy with it!

Great screen, decent performance, no updates, horrible battery life
2 of 2 found this helpful The title pretty much says it all. The hi-res screen is *beautiful*. The performance is more than adequate (subjectively, about on a par with the Samsung Tab Pro 8.4 that this replaced). The unit I bought shipped with Android 5.0.2 (Lollipop) and given that Best Buy has discontinued the Insignia line of tablets (and never gave very good support originally), it's doubtful that it will ever get any updates or upgrades going forward. The two big problems are battery life and external SD card access.
Out of the box, I was getting 3-4 hours of screen-on-time and losing 30% of charge overnight. I managed to root it (you have to do double-backflips through hoops to do it, but it *is* possible) and tweak it so that the battery drain on standby is minimal (3-5% overnight), but the best I can do for screen-on-time is 4.5 hours or so.
The SD card access problem (many apps can't write to the SD card) is partly baked in to Android Lollipop (presumably to "improve" security), and partly unique to this system (you need to format the SD card as NTFS instead of the more common FAT32), Once rooted I was able to use FolderMount to allow storing and accessing things like music, books, and videos on the SD card.
All of that said, at 60 bucks or so, this is an incredibly good buy since I use it mainly for reading and web surfing in the evening. At bedtime, I just stick the charge cable back in for the night.
