Very pleased with my purchase
I decided to buy this watch after my running partner bought the 405, I just did not see 150 dollars more worth of watch. When we run together, mine takes a few seconds longer to find a signal but other than that they always read exactly what we think they should (he is quite a bit quicker than me). On a recent run my watch read the distance as 6.28mi. and his 405 read it as 6.44 because he took a long way around a park to let me catch back up. The con: Right now this watch is not supported on garmin connect, only on motion-based (which is very good mind you). Garmin site says that it will be by the end of 2008 and all data from motion-based will be transfered without having to do anything.

Highly impressed--without a doubt the most bang for your buck.
I was disappointed when Sony decided to use a smaller and lower res screen on the back of the a37. I had been using a Nex5, and it just seems kind of un-intuitive for Sony to have simply made the a57 bigger for the sake of making it....bigger so I wanted the smaller body and the focus peaking so I decided to try it. Im really enjoying this camera, its super responsive--perhaps the evf could activate a touch faster but in reality were talking fractions of seconds here in a $600 camera, so not that big a deal. Also the smaller screen is a 3:2 aspect rather than the 16:9 that Sony typically uses so the actual image on the screen is virtually the same size. While I prefer this to a 16:9 screen, someone who shoots a lot of video may find this problematic but I never shoot video. Paired with the sony DT 35 f1.8 SAM lens this camera will provide outstanding image quality in low light situations such as holiday gatherings/dinners. ISO 3200 is absolutely usable in my opinion. Couple other things to consider; you can buy a "beer can" 70-210mm f4 minolta zoom on eBay for $100-$150 and shoot useable shots of your kids indoor or low light sporting events. Nikon and Canon shooters don't have this cheap option--their 70-200 f4 lenses are significantly more expensive albeit higher quality. But with sony you DO have the option. Sony doesn't generally remove features from lower end cameras as other brand do either. With the a37 you still get a full featured camera with a lower spec rather than a completely stripped (crippled in my opinion in some cases) down base model. Cons: Wish I could re-program the "zoom" button. Wish the EVF eye sensor switch was instant but thats just being picky really--you will spend a fraction of a second looking into blackness. Wish Sony would have put the standard hot shoe on this camera---seems they have relented on using that minolta design with the a99 so a37 users missed out by one model. Bummer Electronic. View. Finder (EVF) on these cameras generates a lot debate with purists despising them and while they have drawbacks, their benefits vastly outweigh them. Like them or not, they are here to stay and once you use a good one like on these cameras, you will be sold. Whatever people may tell you about these "not being DSLRs" (who cares), dont worry because they will be using one in the future. There is NO need for a digital camera to have a mirror whipping and flapping around inside it. That was for film, and Id venture a guess that some buyers of this camera have never shot a roll of film. Personally I would rather pay for more features in a entry level camera than have to pay for the precision mechanisms involved in mirror flapping that is totally useless on a digital camera. Ive not used any modern canon slr to compare this to but I have owned a nikon d3100 and its my humble opinion that the Sony simply blows it away. Granted its almost 2yrs newer, but honestly the d3200 is much the same camera with a new sensor. Sony is the only camera manufacturer that is actually innovating it seems, and it shows. Look at reviews on sites like dpreview.com and you will see that most of the latest "gold" awards have gone to Sony (the bigger body a57 is the last to gain one).
