A giant killer

This is an exceptional stereo microphone--not just "for the money"--capable of XY, Blumlein and Mid-Side recording. The giant 35 mm diaphragms and transformerless design contribute to a quiet, accurate rendering of whatever it encounters. The tone is neutral, slightly warm, with a smooth and airy top end. Each capsule is switchable between omni, cardioid and figure 8. A -10 dB pad and high pass filter are available controls for each cap, but alas, can't be used simultaneously. This mic is a monster, tipping the scales at just over two pounds. The shock mount is massive and fully up to the task. The only weak points: a low-quality cable and splitter box that requires you to supply two XLR cables to input into a recorder or mixer. For the serious recordist, you'll want to make or have made a quality Y-cable that obviates the need for the splitter box. That's a fairly minor quibble. If you're looking for an all-in-one stereo mic solution, look no further.
