The Professionals DVD Richard Brooks(DIR) 1966

    An Under-appreciated Winner
This is a well done Western with modern touches and straightforward plot. The script is clever and entertaining with a number of memorable one liners. Lee Marvin, Burt Lancaster, Robert Ryan, and Woody Strode are perfectly cast as “professionals” and the cinematography is beautiful. What I like most is the “down to earth” approach the movie takes with its action scenes - no excessive explosions, impossible fight moves, or implausible scene resolutions. If I had to identify a weakness with the movie it would be Claudia Cardinale’s acting. I’ve seen squirrels convey emotion better than Claudia.

Taylor Knives 34OTB Old Timer Genuine Bone Middleman Folding Pocket Knife

Interesting re-design of an old classic.
I've started collecting old USA-made Schrade Old Timer Middleman knives (34ot). This Chinese-made version is an interesting contrast to the American version. The bone handle covers look nicer than the old Delrin covers. They are polished and well dyed, but they are more "squareish" and not as comfortable in the hand. The blades are 9Cr18MoV which is the equivalent to (the more familiar) 440C, but 2 blades had some very slight play (wobble), something that most of the American blades in my collection don't have even though they are used. The traditional spey blade has been replaced by, what looks like, a cross between spey and pen blades. I think this is for the better since I don't do much animal neutering. I haven't yet sharpened the knife, so I can't assess this factor. Snap is very good on all blades and fit and finish are comparable to those on Rough Riders.
Mouldproof Reusable Dry Box Moisture Absorb Silica Gel Desiccant

    Works quickly and well...but
Pack reactivatels quickly (60 to 90 seconds) so watch it while in microwave otherwise the packing could burn. The crystals change color clearly and stay secure in the container. The container itself is is fairly solid. I used it in an air tight box about the size of a toolbox and the crystals needed recharging after about a month. When I microwaved it, I was surprised at how much water vapor it released. I was satisfied enough with the first two I bought that I went ahead and bought two more.
