DP564 Darlac SWOP-TOP Traditional Tree Pruning Saw

Very useful but too lightweight

The saw's major attraction is that it connects to the Darlac SWOP-TOP system, allowing pruning at heights that would otherwise be unreachable from the ground. It is also inexpensive. However it is too lightweight : the blade flexes alarmingly when applying pressure to cut. A thicker more rigid blade would not be significantly heavier and would be much easier to use.

Good value product

This product appears identical to branded mauls costing up to 50% more. It comprises a fibreglass shaft for long life plus secure rubber hand grip and protection around the neck against damage due to mishits. The head appears to be securely bonded to the shaft. As delivered the maul blade is fairly blunt, relying on its weight to cleave logs along the line of the grain.
