Plastic tang. Breaks easily.
1 of 1 found this helpful It looks really cool and the plastic knife holder lets you see the blades. The blades cut and hold their edge about as well as you would expect at the price. What the manufacturer boldly fails to note is that the blade extends less than an inch into the handle and the tang is plastic. I immediately broke the utility knife handle and sent it in for their "warranty". They replaced it for $5. A few weeks after I put it back into use, the handle broke again in the same place. Most certainly not worth sending in again. I repaired it by drilling into both pieces of the handle and gluing a 2 inch shank in place. Shortly after that the paring knife handle broke in the exact same place. I repaired it the same way.
I assumed that since it was Cuisinart, the quality would be a lot better. I cannot believe that they put their name on this knife set. I would never recommend this knife set to anybody.
