Well worth a read
First published in 1954 this wonderful novel by one of Italy's most highly rated writers was later, in 1963 made into a film starring Brigitte Bardot. It deals with the difficulties of a waning relationship between a struggling script writer and his young wife. Easy to read and difficult to put down I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it. It is many years since I last read a Moravia novel and am glad that I found this one.

Bufalino at his best
In the twenty plus short stories that make up The Keeper of Ruins the author has produced an immense variety of fascinating depictions of life with pathos and humour. Ranging from a tale about Noah and his Ark and Gogias and the Sabaean Scribe to more modern era stories such as the Death of Giufa and A Bench in the Park.
Readers of Gesualdo Bufalino - the greatest Sicilian writer in my opinion, will find this book enthralling and I recommend it to all readers of serious works.
