I remember Annie Ross
Michael Johnston and I used to go down to Annie's Room in the Mayfair Hotel, London back in the 60's. With such a simple backing it shows what real "jazz" is about. The voice is richer, deeper and breathier....but, like Miss Day, the phrasing and story of the song still moves. Even tho' I don't put down as many vodka martinis late into the night as I did then
