Isle Royale National Park Couldn't kill it
1 of 1 found this helpful Bought this as a used camera to take on a once in a lifetime hiking trip to Isle Royale National Park in August 2015. I have had other Nikon Coolpix and liked them. The reason I went used is that I didn't want to spend a lot of cash on what would basically be a disposable camera for me. I own a fair amount of high end print and digital cameras and would have loved to have taken them with me, however I knew that the hard knocks of a 7 day wilderness backpacking trip could be hard on quality photo equipment. Bottom line up front - the coolpix L27 kicked ass. I shot 16meg worth of photos. All crisp and clear and extremely easy to take with the little point and shoot. While the zoom isn't massive it is clear. I knew I was giving up top quality, long distant pix for simplicity, light weight and disposabability. I was OK with that. Does it take photos as nice as my Nikon D600 DSLR or my Minolta SLR ? No. And I didn't expect it. It also doesn't weigh 1/10 as much, cost within $800, or cause me any anxiety as I was getting soaking wet huffing and puffing down the Greenstone Trail...plus it fit in my front shirt pocket for those unplanned oppportunity photos when a moose would step out of the underbrush and challenge you for the trail....
