An easy read
I'm a voracious reader but rarely of novels. I bought this because a friend gave me the other three books in this series and got this one (the first in the series) for completion.
I am well into the book and it is an easy read; characters still being introduced and developed. It has prompted me to research the American Civil War for background and context and I am grateful for the prompt to learn a bit about that.
In summary (so far), an easy read that I assure will appeal to fans of classic novels of historical content.

Small, simple, robust & well-made; just what we've been hunting for.
Finally! We found just what we we've been hunting for - a small, simple & robust companion set.
It is solid & well made, so we expect it to last for many years, unlike the flimsy, tinny efforts that are more commonly found.
We also wanted something plain & simple, to compliment rather than distract from our log burner; and the size of the tools ensures it is easy to get into the back of the grate when cleaning it out.
