Cheap Price, excellent value.
Considering that the official Sony alternative is more expensive, I find that this is excellent value for money. Not only that, but it does everything that the Sony one does as well.
Thus far, I have found nothing negative to say about the actual pack.
If I were 'picky' I would say that it could be supplied with alternative 'plug-in' heads (on the end of the lead), so that it could be used with other battery driven apperatus, but that doesn't detract from what this is - a really useful and inexpensive bit of kit.

Good Kit, but better is available for less
1 of 2 found this helpful As a life-long fan of Minolta photo equipment, it was easy to buy this when I was looking for a second remote flash - and I wasn't disappointed. Well not at first anyway.
It does everything that it is claimed to do and it's TTL system is excellent. The only real problems relate to it's cost, it is very expensive compared to others, and can only easily be used with a Sony (or Minolta) camera because of the non-standard design of hot-shoe - although adapters can be bought for it.
The manual is easy enough to follow, but read through it carefully as I found myself being mislead at times, for which I think the translation from Japanese may have been responsible. Also, allow yourself a lot of time to get used to the instructions.
The cheapness and readily available remote 'flash-triggers' have really made this sort of dedicated flash almost obsolete. A much cheaper made flash, such as those coming from China, are less that a quarter of the price and when used with a remote trigger (cost about a tenner or so) this is a much more cost effective way of controlling the flash. You could even buy a cheap flash meter, the alternative flash gun and the remote & still only pay about half of the price of this unit.
In summary, I can say nothing really negative about this flash - but you could save a lot of money by going for the alternatives, which do the same job more easily!

Big, Cumbersome but limited !
I just love using this item - even though it is very big and cumbersome when attached to a camera.
I prefer to use mine as a second (slave) flash, although results are excellent when using it as a stand alone.
When I do so, I usually have it attached to a lighting stand - placed as I require & use the flash's trigger on my camera.
Unfortunately, if I attach it to my camera (Sony A7R2), its size & construction make it difficult, but not impossible, for me to adjust things such as focus etc (unless I'm using auto-focus). Regretfully, the IR trigger still has to be attached to my camera as well as the flash will not fire from the hot-shoe. This makes for a real big cumbersome mess which, to be honest, is less than desirable & irritating.
Using it on a stand is the only answer for my liking but even then it can only be used as a stand alone or a slave.
It works extremely well as a slave and can be triggered from any primary flash / speed-light.
I tend to use my 'normal' flash trigger on the speed light, as the Godox is incapable of being triggered by any of the 16 channels that my trigger has. I do understand there is one compatible flash available for use with this ring flash, but I already have perfectly functioning flashes & can see no reason to spend a further large amount of money - just so I can operate both compatibly.
I see this incompatibility as a real issue with the Godox, which is otherwise excellent - except for the fact that, in multiple flash combinations, it can only used as a slave unit.
I really don't have trust in manufacturers who purposely prevent the use of the 'universal' flash triggers.
Would I buy another one? I don't think so - as to do so would mean me being tied to their own brand - & that is not good for competition.
