Trading as Castle Books, Totnes Community Bookshop is a volunteer-run, secondhand bookshop in the heart of beautiful Totnes, Devon. You can find us in Castle Street, in the shadow of the town’s Norman Motte and Bailey Castle. We specialise in pre-loved fiction, art, poetry, history, natural history, local interest, psychology, spirituality, children’s, specialist interest, rare and collectable books.
There has been a bookshop at 4 Castle Street for over 50 years. Today we operate entirely through the good will of our dedicated and dynamic group of volunteers (there are no paid staff) and are held in warm affection by both local customers and visitors to Totnes.
Alongside the bookshop we organise regular literary events for the local community, including a monthly book group and Open Mic Poetry group. Any profits from the bookshop and our Ebay site are channelled back into the shop and the local community to support literary and other charitable causes.
