I read a review of this item before actually buying it and was a little sceptical about the quality of the item, but I went ahead and bought it anywa.
When I played the first movie (Star Trek, 2010) I was absolutely taken aback by the quality, the load time is apparently not the fastest in the world, however since this is my first player, I have nothing else to compare it to. It is a little slow, but, the wait is well worth it.
I did notice at the end of the movie, the titles stutter a little bit, but the actual movie itself is like nothing you have seen before, I can assure you.
It has a wide array of connections on the back allowing you to connect it by any way that you would need to a tv, surround sound system or a pc/laptop that has video input devices. The audio quality is incredible, but again as I have nothing to compare it to, it might not be the best on the market.
I was a little disappointed that it says in reviews that mp3 discs cannot be played on it, though I have none to check if this was changed in the firmware updates, it does state that it won't play DVD+R discs only -R, which has been changed with the updated firmware as I played a couple of DVD's on +R discs with no problems. It also states that it is not DivX compatible, another thing fixed with the firmware update, so if I had an mp3 disc to try, I am confident that it would be accepted as the menu does have an audio player in it.
To summerise, if you are looking for a fast loading blu-ray with all the trimmings, this is not for you, get a PS3 lol but if you want a blu-ray player that will play blu-rays in spectacular form and upscale DVD's to HD quality with no effort and on a budget... then this is the blu-ray player for you.
I hope you find this review helpful and if you do buy this player, I am sure you will be as happy as I am with mine.
