Plug and Play or Plug and Print
Purchased as a used item so no unboxing required. I simply placed the printer on top of the extra tray and aligned it using the locating pins. Connecting the USB cable and power lead (both supplied) I powered up and the Operating System (Windows 7) immediately downloaded and installed the drivers. I was then able to print a document straight away with no extra time needed to set-up the software or hardware.
The extra paper tray was recognised by the software with no additional configuration required unlike earlier models. I previously used the HP 2300d with an extra tray and the option to enable it was buried in a sub-menu only accessible from the Windows Control Panel.
Speed from pressing "print" to the page coming out of the printer is impressive; I have only tested this with text-documents so far.
