Buy It!
This is an incredibly rigid tripod and essential for the adequate support for 500mm and 600mm F/4 lenses. I already own a GT2542LS and although it is an excellent tripod in its own right, is not really up to the job for the largest lenses. You don't get something for nothing and it is extremely pricey and it is quite heavy.
Like my smaller unit, the tripod head seems unnecessarily large and does not allow it to pack as tightly as it could. I replaced the head with a Markins TH300 head and this reduced the weight and the packed size of my GT2542LS and also increased the overall rigidity as the legs mount closer to the head mount. I will do the same with a Markins TH500 for this tripod.
Although Gitzo tripods are expensive they are without doubt the most rigid, strongest and best quality units on the market. If you can't afford a new one, wait till an old one appears on eBay like I did and get it second hand; it is definitely better to buy a second hand Gitzo tripod than get a new one from a competitor!

Fantastic Quality
With this set you do not need a conventional set of screwdrivers as the individual bits fit in the handle so firmly and neatly that it feels like a normal screwdriver.
The biggest drivers are shorter than a conventional screwdriver but it is hardly noticeable.
I like the fact the screwdrivers are stainless steel because they will not end up with rust spots like my normal ones.
The handle and case are first rate and result in a product that takes up little space, weighs very little but allows you to carry all size and type variations without compromising.
Highly recommended.

Buy It and Julia's Other Walks; You Won't be Disappointed.
1 of 1 found this helpful I have always been interested in walking and happened on one of the walks featured in this video and which I thoroughly enjoyed. I rarely watch TV so hadn't realised it was part of a series and that she had also done other series too until I came across it by accident. So, I took the plunge and bought it and on the back of it bought all her other walking videos too.
Julia seems a lot more chilled out and more in her element in these vidoes than I remembered from when I saw her Countryfile a few times. It is clear she really loves hiking and that this is not work for her at all.
I liked the aerial photography of the route at the beginning of each walk which sets the scene for each. The walks are a really nice look at what the UK has to offer in terms of beautiful landscapes and some associated history of the area and they have sparked my enthusiasm for hiking that I didn't realise had lapsed a little in recent years.
