A bit over the top
The ‘brilliant ‘ writing became a bit too intrusive towards the end.

New condition Enid Blyton set
My 7 year old granddaughter can’t get enough of boarding school series like this .
The condition of the set was as promised with the original artwork on cover, to my mind preferable to the modern but rather bleak cartoon drawings; they are period pieces after all.
Delivery was faster than promised- just in time to provide her with another week of lock down reading.

Dark(e) it remains
Unpleasant character. Slow beginning.
Unconvincing changes towards the end.
On an academic level it is very well written.
Unsuccessful as a novel .
