Great item for me but not for others
These Bates shoes hold up to the constant bending of the toe area without cracking when the shoes occasionally get black shoe polish on them. The shine is not affected until the shoes have been used 9 months or so. I use them for dress occasions only and use my older pair for daily wear. Once the bend lines are established deep in to the material it is made from, I relinquish them to work shoes for garden digging, orcharding, mowing, and mechanical repair work. I greatly appreciate those who do not swish to keep them after their military service. It is a great deal for me. I could not afford to buy them new from Bates.
