Amazing quality fashion doll completely satisfies, even with some minor flaws!
Janay was always an Integrity doll I've wanted, because she's their first ever model, and I was supremely excited that she was re-released this year in the same high quality as Integrity's modern doll lines. I chose this version, Legacy Janay, for her gorgeous dark hair and more subtle, understated yet still glamorous makeup. I couldn't afford her in her outfit, so I'll have to save up for it, but just the doll was enough to amaze me.
And she DOES amaze. In real life, she's expertly made, with the tiniest little details that make her shine, like the most careful application of crescents of paint for her French manicure, her flawless face screening with multiple overlaid tones, and her dense, generous rooting with extremely soft, high quality hair fibers. Integrity makes dolls that truly justify the prices. She's my third Integrity doll and the finest one so far. Her vinyl is surprisingly heavy and sturdy for her size, poses like a dream, and makes even the cheap clothing I've got look expensive.
Here's the kicker- my Janay has a factory flaw on her face. It's very subtle, but there's a flat spot on her cheek (her left, our right) that looks like a small scuff or blemish in the vinyl. Somehow, she has convinced me not to mind. She's such a high class doll that on her, even a flaw on the most visible part of her face looks like it belongs there, because she WORKS it. I chose to believe that it's a birthmark that does nothing to erase or demean her confidence. In fact, one day I might chose to highlight it with a tiny spot of paint to make it even more visible, like a port wine stain. I know for a fact that Integrity cares about their products and makes consistently great work, so I still love my own Janay, flaw or not.
I often don't like other styles of Integrity bodies for their slightly awkward, exaggerated proportions, and I don't think that swivel waists are necessary. The modern sculpt for the Industry line is extremely well-balanced in the torso and limbs, and she poses naturally without the need for an awkward hip swivel. She fit most of the 1/6 clothes I tried on her even though none of them were originally Integrity, and her shoe arch is versatile.
Another positive side note note goes to the secure Integrity box, with the classy ribbons and all. It was no trouble removing her from the box but she didn't budge an inch during two rounds of shipping.
If one is considering picking up a Legacy Janay, I'd recommend her for her extremely careful paint, unique details, and overall high quality. Janay makes everything look good, but I'm so here for her stunning lip color and that dark gorgeous hair in the cute bun.
There are a few negatives, but they're negligible. Again, the flaw on her cheek might be a turnoff for any perfectionists who want the highest quality assurance for her high cost. And I don't know if this is just me, but her stand seems to have been manufactured a little poorly- I can't get the stick to jam into the base at all. I've been having to borrow another doll's stand to display my Janay. I hope someone can help me rectify this, but haven't been able to find any resources. This is a new type of stand they've made for The Industry line quite recently, so no reviews online yet.
Overall, I'm quite happy with my Legacy Janay and hope to elevate my enjoyment of her with some time and patience.
