Still a great scanner for preserving old slides
Works great, especially once the SilverFast software was upgraded to a more recent version compatible with Windows 10. For family portraits or other special images, the extra IR scan that can be performed to help automatically remove scratches and dust from the image is outstanding.
Of the ~500 slides I scanned most were Kodak Kodachrome from 1965-1982 that were in great condition. The store bought slides (not Kodachrome) had massively faded to a reddish hue, but that wasn’t a big deal because there weren’t useful for me project. I did scan one of them and was amazed at how the SilverFast software was able to restore the color (with a little user adjustment to guide it).
