Decent product but quality control lacking

I had 1 switch out of the 8 not work because of incorrect contact being installed in one of the terminals. The switch would not work. Opening the switch revealed that the one of the center pivot contacts was incorrectly replaced with a switched contact making one of the poles inoperative.

Would be 5 stars if sound control was less sensitive

Excellent value. Everything works as expected except sound control which gets minus 1 star because of the microphone being too sensitive. This can be fixed with a 10K-ohm potentiometer to reduce the bias on the electret microphone making it less sensitive to sound.

Short battery life easily remedied with cell phone power bank

While having short battery life from it's internal AAA batteries compared to some of Tascam's other higher end offerings, this recorder has all of the basic features and performance needed from a portable recorder. The battery life issue can be mitigated by use of a cell phone powerbank plugged into the microusb port on the side.
