Lighter and Far Less Costly
It was a surprise to come across a battery grip for my old Sony A850. Was not sure about needing one, but for the price, it was hard to pass up. Came quickly via courier and P&P was free. The grip was protected well in the box and the grip itself has a plastic protector over the contact points. The batteries I had, fitted very easily into the tray, although it is a bit fiddly to get the tray to line up and slide in sometimes. Attachment to the camera was easy, as the battery door slides into a recess on the grip, so no need to remove it. It also feels secure when on the camera. The feel in both landscape and portrait modes, feels secure and comfortably balanced, with either small or large lenses. My only gripe and therefore only four stars would be that some buttons (FN and Zoom) are not present on this model, compared to the original Sony made one. I have an original Sony grip for a Sony A99 and the weights are as follows. Sony 308g and Ex-Pro 269g (no batteries), so it is probably lighter than the original, which helps when using it all day.

Great Replacement
Great replacement option for any lost rear caps. I bought these to go on the M42 lenses (with and adapter) that I had and not disappointed. Good tight fit and strong plastic.

Proud Enthusiast
This was a professional level camera that appeared in 2012 and it is still at that level today. This was a big step up from the previous model of the A900/A850 in that it had the transluscent mirror technology, enabling better focussing and providing an excellent electronic viewfinder.
The camera controls are easy to use and well laid out. The tough body, which is weather sealed, means no worries about dust and moisture getting into the interior. Certainly not a lightweight camera, but it still balances well in the hand. The one I purchased also came with the vertical grip, that screws into the base of the camera and takes two additional batteries for thos long days out, or just doing a lot of vertical shots.
Coupled with a huge range of Minolta, Sony or other third party A-mount lenses, this camera body will give the enthusiast a camera to be proud of.
