They worked out well!
1 of 1 found this helpful My tube line stage came with stock Chinese tubes and the sound quality had always been substandard and then after a couple of years of use one tube developed noise. I saw a review noting that the "GTA" version of the 6SN7 may have more desirable sonics than other varieties. These tubes are quiet and very musical. They are not a matched pair and there is a slight channel imbalance but my power amplifier following the tube stage has gain controls, so this is not a concern. Tubes arrived quickly and well-packaged. I am very pleased with this purchase.

Very Handy Device For the Price
Although these are made out of plastic, they are quite versatile and seem sturdy. I appreciate the fact that the internal arm has a lot of range and can either prop up a cell phone at one extreme or a tablet at the other. I gave it four stars because there are sometimes a few scuffs on the pads (black in the case of the units I purchased); however, this is merely a cosmetic issue and doesn't affect their performance. I purchased these as holiday stocking stuffers for some of my business clients. There are probably 1,001 uses for this besides phones and tablets.

A real sleeper product
1 of 1 found this helpful This was recommended by an audiophile friend and as I began to read reviews, I got a sense of how much bang it offered for the buck. I can't emphasize enough how important it is to switch out tubes before using the product! I had read so many comments about how awful the stock Chinese tubes are and I will admit that I was not pleased with the preamp when I first bought it, even after a break-in period. Once I moved to an RCA rectifier tube and some Sylvania preamp tubes, the harshness was gone, the device didn't sound like it was clipping when I added gain and it became so much more musical overall. Although the chassis has a plastic bottom cover and a plastic shroud over the transformer, the main chassis cover is metal and I have seen photos of the interior - parts quality is first-rate. Even the volume potentiometer has a very solid feel and the remote control has a nice range. You do need to tap the volume up and down controls on the remote to get the desired setting because it does have a lot of speed but that's no big deal. I would recommend some silicone ring tube dampers because the signal tubes seem to be a bit microphonic but that is a cheap upgrade. This is my first tube preamp and I don't have any regrets with the purchase...it has been a great learning experience. Very highly recommended in this price category!
