Seagate still achieve the highest standards of any drive manufacturer.
Basically my customers hard drive was on the verge of failiure, so before it did fail I cloned the old disk with the new ST3250312AS SATA 3 Drive although the original was only a SATA 1 type. Most people get confused by changes in specification from SATA 1 through SATA 2 to SATA 3, but all that changes really is the throughput or speed of transmition through the interface. All are backward compatiable but the thing to watch out for is that the SATA cable is shielded from crosstalk at the higher speeds, so its worth making sure the cables used will be capable of handling at least 6GB /sec which will cater for any version of SATA.
