Zero precision equals useless junk
1 of 1 found this helpful If a die is not precision made then it is useless and its not heavy enough to be a paper weight. First off the cutting teeth are severely tapered on both ends leaving only about 6-7 threads of good cutting teeth in the middle of the die. Second the die is under sized so in order to properly thread a 1/2 inch work piece you need to expand it about .02 inch which brings us to the third issue which is the expander screw is drilled crooked so when you torque the expander screw it throws the two halves of the die off essentially throwing off the thread pitch entirely resulting in a totally useless die. Some folks may say use the expander screw on the die handle but the way the slot is cut in the die and the hardness of the die it basically destroys the die handle expander screw leaving no choice but to use the expander screw built into the die. Buy Japanese, USA, or Polish. Skip the China junk.

Extra long handle is nice but QC is lacking
I ordered 5 of these bc i just knew they were gonna be hit and miss. Sure enough only 2 out of 5 would accept a blade. Bad grinds all over these things. I had to grind out the channels where the blade rides with a tiny diamond dremel bit. Youll save money initially buying these cheap but youll end up putting money into them to make them function as intended.

Amazing little knife with some pros and cons
Amazing little knife that accompanies my pirantas and lonerock. It has some pros and cons compared to the others. Some pros include thinner profile, much more durable clip, stronger lockback design, safer tool free blade changes, massive thumb stud deployment. Some cons include it has trouble accepting the extra thick #60A blades, the tang where you mount the blades is quite massive and blocks much of the cutting edge of the factory blades however some aftermarket blades are broader which results in more cutting edge exposed beneath the tang. Despite its cons i recommend the gerber vital IF you can get it for a good price.
