Happy with the fan
I was sceptical about the efficiency of such fans to move air enough to make very much difference to room temperature. However, we have noticed our upstairs is a degree or two C° warmer than before as we have directed the air flow towards the ever open stair doorway (no central heating), and though the volume of air moved is slight, we are happy with the result.

Too lightweight
Single wall boxes of this size will carry little weight. Mayve fine for a few bulky items such as clothes, but books, crockery or ornaments - no. Get double wall boxes and smaller.

Very pleased with this item. Will recommend it.
It may not seem inexpensive at just under £600, but similar splitters are on the market for as much as twice the price! It arrived on its own pallet, strapped down and covered in cardboard. I did find it amusing to discover after removing the box and opening the assembly instructions to find the first instruction was how to remove the cardboard box! Nonetheless, it assembled easily.
I found that the wire arms intended to steady the logs were pretty much surplus to requirements, and have removed them. The other item was the plastic knob on the height control rod. It cannot be turned hard enough to firmly lock the height control rod without fear of possible breakage, and the strength of the return spring in the ram will drive the axe up through the 'locked' position quite easily. I have replaced mine with a suitably threaded bolt with a short 'T' bar welded to the head. It has to be short enough to prevent striking the top part of the table at full lowering of the ram. But this has worked very well.
With the ram fully enclosed, any oil leakage after continued use might not at first be noticed, which is where the horizontal type scores by being clearly visible if such does eventually occur. But the disadvantage of the horizontal type are the two side bars. Mine have broken more than once under extreme pressure - just one side, which loads the ram unevenly and will bend the ram dramatically. I would like to see an exploded diagram of the construction of this vertical splitter.
In comparison to our previous horizontal 7 ton splitter, this is far superior; in quality of build and it seems power. We have installed it in the barn which means we now take the wood to the splitter, but this is working out far better than wheeling the splitter, cable and drum across the yard to the wood pile. It also seems to split wood faster and easier, with the ability to manoeuvre the wood on the table much easier than balancing it on the ram cylinder of the horizontal type and catching the split wood before it falls off.
Very pleased with this item. Recommended.
