the edition I bought is outdated, with much erroneous infromation
this Edition I bought of GT40, An Individual Record & Race History was fine when it first appeared, but woefully out ot date as soon as it came out. I can point definitively to my car, s/n P/1058 as an example. there are too many errors to relate here, but one quick example is that he gives the car's color as Carmen Red, which it was when I first saw it at Al Grillo Ford. however Mr. Spain goes on to say it was later painted yellow by Skip Barber. I tried to find out if Skip did paint it yellw, but couldn't. but he didn'nt need to. I had it painted yellow at Grillo Ford, with airbrushed red around many of the air ducts, especially the engine air intakes, giving them a sort of misty, ethereal appearance. in any case Skip didn't need to repaint P/1058 the same color, as the paint was in excellent shape when he bought it.
I tried to find out before I bought the book whether it was a later edition with many changes I sent to Mr. Spain long before his death, but couldn't, thus bought an outdated version from ebay's seller. I have a friend who has 2 copies of a probably later edition than mine, in which case, if they are, I'll try to find one directly through Motorbooks International, as I don't want to make the same mistake trying again on ebay. besides, I've decided it's not worth the trouble trying to deal outside the USA.

can't run on a battery and indecipherable artificial speech warning.
the need to use a clunky cord is stone age tech. I'm lucky my car still has cigarette lighter plugs in this no-smoking age. the 360c is also so big it's hard to fit in the door ocket of my Mini. I can hear alerts, but the words are unintelligible. I guess that's enough for now, thanks for asking.
