Another Anti-war film from Hanks
12 of 14 found this helpful Big difference from the days of Guadalcanal Diary and Sands of Iwo Jima comes this HBO series based on Eugene Sledge's book, With the Old Breed. It follows the life of several characters during WWII in the Pacific and at home. One thing the series does well is depict the living and dying conditions in the Pacific theater of operations. The series is accurate to Sledge's book which he later wrote after compliling his notes while serving in a mortar unit with the First Marine Division.
Not your Band of Brothers tightness of comradship due to the drudgery and insanity of war, it pretty accurately shows little glory in victory and the burden of war experience.
Would recommend for all boys who want to prove their courage.

Foyle's War #7
Excellent quality, shipped in 4 days.
Have bought all series from these guys, all with excellent quality, all sent fast.
Series #7 and #8 transpire Foyle into espionage with the SOE and their predicaments. The SOE like the OSS and later CIA spend most of their time covering up operations, plugging leaks, and dealing with internal affairs. Fun to watch someone else do it. Foyle is a class act in the face of adversity with his discerning manner and mature expression. Love the props and locations for shooting a most entertaining series of soft drama.

Good Example of Total Government
This movie parallels anti-war sentiments but offers rare insight into T-55 interior and crew functions. The idea of armor alone without support infantry or recon is typical hollywood to set the predicament of a lost Russian tank in hostle territory.
I love the opening/closing soundtrack.
