Works a treat but rated incorrectly...
2 of 2 found this helpful I tried this directly connected to x2 160w (320w total) Solar Panels, with both Elements connected and it barely got hot. So I tried 320w on one Element and it heated the water just fine, I knew then that I needed double the rated 300w or get closer to 600w. So I reconnected both elements and attached x2 260w (520w total) Solar Panels and it worked awesome, with both elements producing bubbles! In my oppinion, it should be rated "Configuable from 300w to 600w" (Configurable from 1 Element to 2 Elements)
In reality however, it should be rated @ 1200w - 600w per element.
The only problem I have is, where on earth can you find a locking nut for it? I have searched high and low for weeks with no success, why does it not come with a locking nut? It's rather useless as a heating element if we can't fasten it. Is there a tank that it fits? The information given is very limited when it comes to "getting started", which is a shame really because even though I have "recommended" it, I couldn't really recommend it, simply because I have had it over 3 weeks and I'm still scratching my head as to how on earth I could set this up. In such a scenaria I feel like I have wasted money as I cannot use it as I intended (yet) because of the lack of a fastening nut - and at the same time I'm overjoyed that it heats up so well.
If you are confident that you can get a locking nut or a fixture of some kind then by all means, get this product and run it at 500w-600w but if you can't get a nut you may be as stuck as I am :/
