Puncture-Proof yellow wheels is the way forward,
I bought these puncture-proof wheels to replace the existing inflatable tyres/wheels on my wife's garden trolley.
I had previously bought a replacement set of pneumatic wheels for her trolley but those were a complete waste of money and were constantly going flat - probably because the tubes and tyres were cheap and very thin. I was not going to make the same mistake twice. Puncture-Proof is the way forward!!!
I liked the look of these wheels - being bright yellow, they would contrast well with the black body of the garden trolley.
I carefully checked the axle measurements before ordering, to make sure that the wheels would be a correct fit to the trolley, and then I placed the order.
The wheels arrived very quickly and on time.
I checked the hub nuts and bolts (4 to each wheel) and found some required tightening. - only a few seconds to complete.
These yellow wheels have roller bearings inside the hub, so before fitting them I applied a liberal helping of 'copperslip' grease to each of the bearings with the aid of a lolly stick to get them 'well greased' inside the hub and bearing cage!
Each axle stub was given a quick scrub with a wire brush to remove any lurking rust or scale etc.
Using new split pins (often incorrectly referred to as 'cotter pins' which are completely different) and new washers, the wheels slipped on the axles easily and fitted perfectly. Fitting the wheels took less than a minute each.
If you are not a 'fussy engineering type', you could probably take them out of the box and fit them without any further attention, BUT, it took only an extra minute or two per wheel to give the axles a clean and the bearings a good greasing - well worth it in the long run!!!
Using new split pins is much quicker than trying to straighten the old ones and then trying to fit them to fit into the axles.
To sum up, these are great replacement wheels and we are very pleased with them The trolley rolls easily - in fact a little less effort is needed to pull it than before. The trolley has already been well used with the new wheels and now we have peace of mind that we won't have yet another puncture just when we have something heavy to move. PLUS, with those bright yellow boots on, it's very easy to see where the trolley is hiding, when it's in the garden!
Puncture Proof is the way forward!!!

Inexpensive caliper set for woodworking.
This is an inexpensive caliper set, I would guess mass-manufactured to a price.
BUT, they are perfectly serviceable as measuring devices, and accurate enough, provided you first clean up the tips with a fine file. Apart from that, the movement and action is smooth with no sticking or 'notchiness'.
None of the tips were particularly sharp or square when received - but they are simply the victims of 'mass-production'. However, just by spending a few minutes with a fine file to either streamline and sharpen, or square off the tips (depending on which calipers you are looking at) makes a world of difference.
The calipers are advertised as for "Woodwork", and this is because the tips are not hardened to enable scribing on metal. (If they had been hardened, I would not have been able to use the file on them.)
For checking, measuring and transferring dimensions on wood, these calipers are perfectly capable, and advertised as such. But they have very limited uses when working with metal - which is not encouraged.
To sum up, provided you initially perform a little 'hand fettling" these are a cheap but useful addition to the "Measuring equipment drawer". in the woodwork shed, but don't take them into the metalwork shed!

Exceeded my expectations. This really works well!
I bought this more out of curiosity than confidence. For £16.00 I was not expecting much of a performance - I assumed that large items might get caught but dust etc would go straight through to the vac.
How wrong I was !!!
I fitted the cyclone to the top of an empty 30kg plastic drum with a screw lid - making sure all was airtight. I removed the paper bag from my workshop vac and made sure the inside of the vac chamber was perfectly clean. I wanted to see just how much dirt got past the cyclone
Then I set about vacuuming up wood chips from the wood lathe and fine sawdust from the sanders, plus other general dirt. After 10 to 15 minutes I couldn't resist any more and had a look inside the workshop vac. I was genuinely astonished that it was still perfectly clean with not even a light layer of dust. EVERYTHING had been caught by the cyclone and dropped down into the 30kg plastic drum underneath.
I then tried vacuuming water! Exactly the same result. not a drop went through to the workshop vac. It was all deposited in the plastic drum under the cyclone.
This means that (a) I don't need any more paper vacuum bags, (b) I will get maximum suction all the time and no reduction due to fine sawdust clogging the bag or the filter, and (c) I can get a lot more in the plastic drum than in the workshop vac.
I'm already looking at other uses for the cyclone and I'm about to order another.
Regards to all who read this.
