Stateside Bertie not as funny as usual
Being a big fan of the Jeeves and Wooster ilk of books and programs, I purchased this set(season 3)in the version with Steven Fry and Hugh Laurie. The first 3 episodes take place in the States, and as usual for the British, they get as many digs in as possible;we're crass, loud and have obnoxious speech patterns, etc. The cast of characters isn't too well developed, nor very likeable, and except for Aunt Agatha(the nephew crusher)and Tuppy Glossop, there are few familiar standard cast members.Sets are stark and generally remain in the apartment setting in Manhattan.(Very Poirot-ish)The second three episodes are thankfully back in Britain, so the houses are stately and beautiful.A former Rupert Steggles is incarnated as Gussie Fink-Nottle, and there's a new Angela Basset.A different Aunt Dahlia is used, and the Director is one Ferdinand Fairfax...not as brilliant in coaxing the best from this normally stellar cast. All-in-all, it's still good viewing, but not up to par with the first 2 seasons in my opinion.I'd still buy it for the second disc, but the first one won't see much air-time.

Welsh traditional Recipes, A Heritage of Food and Cooking by Annette Yates Book
    05 Apr, 2019
Substantial and homey meals from Wales.
Wonderful, easy, nutritious dishes abound in this well illustrated book. Like the Hermes publisher's cookbook series based upon various national cuisines, this Welsh volume is delightful. While the dishes are generally humble and simple; being full of the somewhat limited produce and meats available in Wales, they all are tasty! Root vegetable, fish, seafood and lamb recipes dominate the book, and are followed by reliable baked classics for pudding. The recipes may resemble more famous English, Irish or Scottish favourites, but are individual enough to justify the purchase of this book. I certainly am enjoying my copy.

The Grail Tarot by John Matthews (2007)
Anyone with an interest in Templar history,Grail studies,Medieval knighthood and its motives and drives,Christian mysticism,Gnosticism and Celtic Arthurian legend will truly enjoy not only the glorious artwork friezes that decorate these cards, but the exhaustively detailed book that accompanies the deck.Being keen on all the previous topics,I found this set presented the information in a straight forward manner, and revealed many new facets of some information I thought I knew well.Painted in the style of Giotto and others, the cards present the symbolism in a truly lush Medieval style. The cards are "male oriented",since this was a man's quest as a military initiate, but the ultimate goal is to acheive Gnosis and Sophia through oneness with the Shekhinah as in the Kabbalah,so there is nothing that restricts it to one gender or the other.Having read other reviews that complained of an inability to use this as a divination set, that would be up to the particular user, but I think once the information given is understood,it will be quite a revealing resource. The price here was much more affordable than at other sources, and the seller was prompt and friendly.Quite a memorable and beautiful deck regardless how it's used.
