It does what it says :)
Trying to get hold of such old tech is difficult now...so this is great!

Wow...just wow...
I had an Athlon64 X2 4800 Socket 939 CPU, but got hold of an ASUS AM2 M2N32 SLI mobo, so decided to get the best CPU for it at the time!
Of course, that was the 6400+ Black Edition...of which mine didn't come with a Heatsink or fan, as they expect you to chuck the stock one anyway with such a top end CPU!
Anyway, back to the review...
The Black Edition means it's multiplier unlocked (Intel+AMD locked the multipliers so naughty people couldn't palm off slower CPU's as faster ones).
When used in conjuction with my Scythe Mine, at 100% load I'm running at 46°C which is awesome! Especially considering as soon as I got it I increased the FSB Multiplier from 16x to 17x and instantly I have a 6800+ equivalent :P
Yes...instead of the stock 2x 3.2GHz, one extra notch and you get 2x 200MHz free speed! so it's actually running at 2x 3.4GHz...totally stable...
Distributed.net crunches at 28,000,000keys/sec which is great as the X2 4800+ did 19,000,000keys/sec! so it's practially 50% quicker than the Socket 939 4800+!!!
If you have AM2, don't get a Phenom just yet...wait for the 9950 or at least til they hit 3.0GHz per core as not enough systems benefit from more than 2 cores yet to justify them...so go for the faster cores over the number of them for now.
That means for AM2...there's no better CPU! (17th March 2008!)
Long live AMD!
EDIT:I would like to withdraw the comment about it being multiplier unlocked, as sadly it is not :( Black Edition does NOT mean it has an unlocked multiplier! Damn AMD!
