This product stopped my inline skates from hurting my ankle.
I use this for my inline skates. I cut a hole out of the middle so it fits my ankle bone without slipping off. It is the same thickness throughout and does not taper at the edges. It does work and has solved my bony ankle rub issue.

Robust and works perfectly.
I was considering spending about 3 times as much on an alternative but this product is really good quality and mostly wood and steel with a small amount of plastic covering the ends and screws. We use it for changing our shoes in the hall by the front door and as I am the heaviest at 68kg this item is more than robust enough and folds close against the wall when not in use. I did not even need to buy strong fittings as the screws and plugs included were perfectly adequate to support the weight. My wife sat on it with our 7 year old son on her lap and feet off the ground it is strong and looks good.
