And The Weak Suffer What They Must? by Yanis Varoufakis

    The EU exposed
This book is a mine of information on the history of Europe and the USA post-World War 2. The author was briefly Greece's finance minister in 2015, when Greece's finances became so bad as to require several bail-outs from the EU. If you persevere with the rather dry subject matter you will be rewarded with a horrifying insight into the machinations of the EU's financial arrangements. I had always suspected that the EU is a self-serving and spiteful organisation - and that is exactly what is confirmed by Varoufakis's excellent book. Reading this book I am now certain to vote for the UK to exit the EU altogether - thank you Yanis for opening my eyes!

    Little in Evidentia
Sylvie Guillem is an accomplished dancer who is capable of mesmerising performances. She is best known for ballet parts and has worked with the Royal Ballet. When I discovered that she had this modern dance DVD, Evidentia, I acquired it straight away. Oh, dear, what a disappointment. To me, perhaps lacking technical knowledge of dance, this appears to be a self indulgent game of posturing. Several tracks lack music at all. Dance without music?? Another track had "music" that is such a sparse assemblage of odd notes that it scarcely qualifies as such. Some of this DVD is filmed in black-and-white which is another example of making the viewer's experience unpleasurable. I played it once and put it straight back onto Ebay. Sorry, Sylvie, but you only ever had this professionally produced and released on the back of your ballet fame - without your name, no-one would have had the nerve to risk it.
