An original and compelling analysis of "witchcraft" cases in early New England.
The psychoanalytic interpretations may have disturbed some of the more conservative historians but it is a meticulously researched work involving the demographics, economy, mass-psychology and theological fixations of the period.
With the Puritan psyche and 'Weltanschauung' under the microscope, the isolation and tedium of their goldfish-bowl world is superbly revealed.
The endnotes and appendix provide a wealth of detail and further interest.

Good work with interesting data-well worth famiarising oneself with: some examples quoted indicate target American rather than european audience(my only real gripe).
