A look into Ulver
Those into artistic black metal should enjoy Ulver's Bergtatt. It contains the trademark harsh black metal elements but also has atmosphere and acoustic classical elements in the music. Garm's vocal delivery is second to none. His range is limitless. Ulver are one of a kind, and very eccentric. There are some unique twists in the songs like background noise over piano in some parts which I find interesting. The female vocals are also a nice touch in my opinion. I would say this qualifies for so called "True Black Metal". Everything is in Norwegian and there are no commercial elements to this cd whatsoever. To anyone who claims to be a fan of black metal, Bergtatt and Nattens Madrigal by Ulver are essential. For black metal standards the production on this cd is pretty good. Every instrument can be made out pretty well. Experience the sounds of Norway.

Sodom doing what they do
And here were are with the 2001 release of M-16 by Sodom. The entire album was inspired by the Vietnam war. Composing this theme are the popular live tracks - Among the Weirdcong and Napalm in the Morning. Sodom sticks to their trademark crushing sound and doesn't go over the top with any experimentation. Which is fine for me personally, however everyone thinks differently. I can still get a chuckle from the imperfect lyrics, however they still get the point across which in many songs they have done is about the tragedy of war. Fans of this band must have this album, and newbies don't miss out on this Venom meets Motorhead insanity. Sodom just has the perfect blend of Death/Black and Thrash Metal in my opinion. And at least in their lyrics they keep them simple and direct and don't try to preach. Give this one a chance.

Accept the Fact by Warmen
Honestly the instrumentals are why I bought the cd, the other songs with vocals in my opinion are average with some being better than others. Just like Warmen's previous releases the album has it's high's and lows. Those who know the older material know what I mean, for those who don't I guess you could call this stuff Children of Bodom with different vocalists. Although Alexi from Bodom does do some vocals as well. At going straight for the throat, Warmen is a great keyboardist coming from the school of Bach and Jens Johannson, above the flash his arrangements I feel are pretty clever. If you like Children of Bodom, Sinergy and have a soft spot for keyboards, this stuff is worth looking into.
