I added a Juno ds to my rig and I'm very happy with it. Lots of great sounds, easy to use and even though it isn't a sampler, you can load samples from an sd card. I make my samples on an Akai MPX 16 and then dump them in the Juno. I use an RD-800 for pianos but if I ever wanted to leave that heavy beast at the house the Juno pianos are excellent. My only complaint is that the arpeggiator kind of sucks. I previously had a Korg Karma so I'm a bit spoiled when it comes to that but overall a great keyboard in a super lightweight package. Pianos, Strings, Synths, Horns and lots of random acoustic and "World Music" or ethnic sounds are all great. Hammonds could be better but that depends on your taste and what kind of tones you're after.

Roland FA-08
I love this keyboard, the pianos are even better than I thought they would be. A big variety of other sounds as well and so far they have all been very good sounds, but I haven’t been through them all yet. Features are great, sampler, sequencer, vocoder, arpeggiator and d-beam! The action of the Key-bed is great. Has a fair amount of weight to it. I wish it would have had the wooden keys that the RD 800 had but the keys do feel good and are fun to play. The keyboard itself is not that heavy. It checks all of the boxes for me. Draw backs, the body is plastic, I would have preferred aluminum. Although it does feel pretty sturdy. It is missing a few sounds. No flute, no harpsichord, no yamaha cp- 80 patch which has become a staple on most keyboards also no violin or cello. Not a huge deal as I have other keyboards. I just found that a bit strange strange. I do feel that this keyboard although it is a workstation can easily be a very good substitute for a digital piano. This makes it extremely useful to me. You do have to strike the keys pretty hard to get the brightness of the pianos to come out, but I’m sure you could adjust the sensitivity if you want to. Organ sounds are pretty good which for me is an area where Roland usually fails. Electric pianos are very good. The FA-08 fits into my rig perfectly. Right now it’s all Roland. Juno ds, new Fantom 6 and the FA. Although the Juno might be retiring soon.

Korg Kross 2 88
Great synth with high quality sounds. Kross 2 is very inexpensive so the had to cut corners somewhere and that would be the completely plastic body however the light weight is an advantage over my Roland RD-800. The low price tag does not effect the quality of the sounds. Pianos are bright and rich, electric pianos are very authentic, great organ sounds, nice bright horns, great synths, great strings. Much better violin sounds than I’m used to hearing on about any synth. The weighted action is really good. I’m used to the Roland RD so the keys don’t feel quite that good but they are good. I haven’t used the sampler yet but it’s nice to have in case I don’t want to take my regular sampler to a gig. The arpeggiators and rhythm programs are similar to the Korg Karma so I’m happy with that. All in all a lot of functionality and great sounds in a keyboard that is very light and portable for an 88 key weighted action synth.
