Addictive
Addictive! The graphics are spot on for a PS2 game and the game play is pretty good. Like all games there is a learning curve about what buttons do sometimes and some of the items like keeping the customer happy seemed vague at first. As long as you keep up with the "mission" section in the top menu everything else starts falling into place. First level I could not figure out how to advance and turned out I had forgotten to do the mission challenges. Those have to be fairly complete in order to advance to better rides, games and food stalls and the next park level.
The only con in the game for me is building the actual roller coaster. Build them FIRST - otherwise everything else you build or install will have to be moved or SOLD. And while in the middle of building the coaster/race tracks the ONLY option you have is to SELL any game/ride/stall that overlaps into the space the coaster wants to be in.
My other issues with the coaster/track are you can ONLY edit from the end of the track. So if you want to make a better loop in the middle of the track (say 45 track pieces back) you have to CLEAR every track piece backwards to reach the one area you wanted to expand. So all your work from the end station to the spot to be changed has to be re-built and good luck remembering exactly what it looked like. There is a tutorial section in the menu that is great. There is even a place where you can build and save tracks for later use, but ANY obstacle in your game world that is non-moveable (park borders/walls) will not allow you to use your pre-built track you designed outside the park.
Finally, while building the track in the park you can tend to forget where the track started especially if you build a huge track before all your parks power gets used up and the auto-track completion is mildly helpful if you are within half a dozen pieces of completing your coaster.
Still a 5 because of all the other mini games, rides to make your head swim and guest interactions to boost scores, money and park happiness. Have FUN!
