Has the looks, but lags a bit
2 of 3 found this helpful The Star A2000 is quite impressive when looking at it as it resembles the most expensive models of the category with its enormous 4.3” display. The latter covers the 95% of the phone’s face and that is why you’d be most probably felt confident for daily use, as the overall phone’s dimensions are kept handy. The device itself is well built, even if not made out of, what you’d say, high quality materials and metals and so on. Yet, it is fairly acceptable and well above average, as it combines the classic polished “glossy” look at the front and sides (as of the LCD TVs), with the washed out dark grey pigment at the back.
To sum up, it is definitely a contemporary eye luring gadget that furthermore incorporates the latest in tech advancements. Speaking of which, some might turn crucial to a potential buyer. According to my experience these are indicatively (but not exclusively):
- Double sim (operating simultaneously, handy feature for various purposes)
- Strong phone signal (tested at my house where other notorious brands fail to establish a reliable connection)
- Wi-fi (very strong and accurate signal, complies to 801.11 standards)
- GPS sensor (which is useless for indoor use as it denies functioning without further assistance from AGPS – however the latter requires constant internet connection)
- TV tuner (operating via an elegantly hidden tiny and multi deploying antenna; but analogue, won’t respond to digital MPEG signals and therefore useless in many areas worldwide)
- High resolution and really very bright screen – it is common sense that brightness is adjustable – 480*800 pixels (and not 480*320 as often claimed) which, on the other hand, stains easily as it is of the latest AMOLED technology – and not the typical LCD
- Decent camera 2.0 MP (nothing special, just a fair 1600*1200 px picture size output)
- Excellent HD video 720p (should be combined with high capacity external memory to take full advantage of it)
- Micro B USB plug, which is widely adopted by mobile phone makers and therefore is fairly easy to find almost everywhere nowadays
The basic downturn to this smartphone is its weak processor and internal (system) memory capacity compared to its ubiquitous cousins. That means that the response time might not meet your needs, especially if you’ve experienced interacting with some of the high end models of the category. Moreover, the A2000 comes with a resistive screen, which practically means that you have to press your finger a bit more intensively (compared to a capacitive screen), in order to activate the multi layer touch sensors.
Other than these, one would appreciate the (perhaps flawless) dominant Android 2.2 OS which is highly customizable and practically of indefinite capabilities. Due to the linux environment it offers tons of free (useful and useless) apps that will surely thrill you if you’re new to smartphones (which are basically many, many things and, at the end, a bit of phones – LOL)!
As for the battery (1.500 mAh), it operates well enough considering the amount of energy that is required to handle the massive screen. Nonetheless, do not expect it to last more than 48 hours at moderate use at best. The package includes two batteries and I suggest purchasing extra charging cables as well.
Overly, if speed does not significantly affect your final decision, consider purchasing A2000 as you’re flirting with the best value for money ratio for around 100 €.
Greetings from picturesque Greece!

A VFM product! It is worth trying if you already have hair, but you want it denser
I'm very satisfied with this product. It has a fair value and it really does what it says, regrowing hair that is!
However, keep in mind that minoxidil works fine as long as one has already got a critical level of hair. Therefore, it is totally useless in bald persons and it also might not suit light-haired men.
