Thank you for the feedback. I am glad you are happy with the Mets purchase. So many of my friends are Yankees fans, but I have always liked the Mets. I have an old Mets button I am going to put up too.

I haven't played the discs yet, but they are all pretty clean looking. I see one or two minor scratches on one of them, so I will hope it and the others will play well.
Kay Thompson: From Funny Face to Eloise by
    03 Sep, 2023
Kay Thompson was a fascinating woman of many talents who is sadly not known by many today
At first, I only wanted to read about Kay's work at MGM as a vocal coach and arranger of songs. I wanted to know more about her work with Judy Garland and the Arthur Freed musical unit at MGM. However, once I finished the chapter on those years (circa 1943-1948), I was compelled by the author's writing that I wanted to read the whole biography. I continued to read to the end of the book, and then I went back to the beginning to read about her childhood, her teen years, and her start on radio as a singer. I learned several things from this book: I learned that Kay was a big success as a radio star, and after her MGM stint she had the highest paying nightclub act with Andy Williams (with whom she had a May-December romance) and his brothers. I also learned that she wrote five books based on her Eloise character. I also learned that she could have had a much bigger stage career, but she turned down many Broadway stage roles that she was offered. For those who do know her name today, she is known to movie musical fans for her appearance in Funny Face costarring Fred Astaire and Audrey Hepburn, but that's about all most people know about her, if they know her name at all. I already knew her of film role in Funny Face, but I didn't know that she and Fred Astaire didn't get along too well. I also didn't know that Kay hated her costumes in the film. I also began to understand what a complicated woman she must have been. She was adventurous, creative, inciteful, and full of life. However, she also seems to have been jealous, manipulative at times, and quite often a control freak. Therefore, if one has an interest in learning about this fascinating woman, this is the book to read.
