one of the best films ever made

Realistic movie based on a true story, filmed in fantastic location of the Iguazo Falls in Nicaragua with Robert de Niro's playing superbly the character of Slavetrader & Mercenary turned Jesuit. With the ever haunting theme of Nella Fantasia, the Mission relives the sad story of the Christian mission to native South Americans being destroyed by the politics of governments wrangling, as usual, over land rights. This movie is not just look and be entertained, but look and learn from history - for all who care. Highly recommended
