Kowa Genesis (Prominar XD) 8.5x44 binocular - great binoculars - highly recommended.
The Kowa Genesis 8.5x44 is sharp and bright with virtually no aromatic aberration or visual distortion. Eye placement and the viewing experience is comfortable. The front of the binocular is also threaded and the person I bought it from generously included a pair of UV filters for lens protection for tromping through the woods. Some people might have a problem with the slightly heavier weight, but i don't as I carry it with wide straps across my shoulders. I love it.

Vixen Artes Monocular 6x21 ED.
The optical and mechanical are very good. The magnification, while not very high is still useful and allows the monocular to be relatively small and light while being reasonably bright. Plus it also focuses close, which is actually useful in many situations. If you are looking for a higher quality monocular, these are highly recommended.
