Sadly wide off the mark
I'm saddened to have to write this. However, the only reason I am writing a review is because I've now twice been asked by ebay (electronically) to do so.
Since my late teens I have used white manicure pencils for my nails. They are essential tools for people who draw attention to their hand, such as when pointing, or for clergy holding a chalice, etc. For those accustomed to using manicure pencils you'll be aware of the constant challenge of finding pencils that don't fall apart at first use. Sadly, with these pencils the internal crayon is too moist, thus causing the sharpened tip to quickly crumble during use. If you're choosing these for an alternative use, then they may be perfect. However, as nail whiteners I'm afraid they've missed the mark.

A Quality Nail-Whitening Pencil Which Won't Crumble On You!
5 of 5 found this helpful I've used a nail white pencil for the past 45 years. It's part of my daily grooming and an essential part of my toiletry kit when I travel. I've used the Mavala brand in the past and was disappointed when it became scarce, so I'm delighted to see it available again. Do not be fooled - the pencils that cost circa £2 are essentially rubbish. Many are often old and the pencil doesn't remain firm when using or sharpening. The Mavala brand lasts a jolly long time and is equal to the Rimmel brand, if not slightly better. I'm a priest and having clean hands and nails are de rigueur for us.

Some Good News For Those Who Appreciate Clean, Presentable Nails!
After finding the dwindling supply of Rimmel Brand nail-whiteners almost double in price overnight I decided to do some sleuth work to learn more about the 'Barry M' brand. Some Good News - The Same Manufacturer as Was the Original Rimmel Brand makes Barry M ! I invested (wasted) a substantial amount of money in an array of pencils on offer through Ebay. Some were passable, others downright dreadful! The worst were the Chinese branded ones. They crumbled away in the pencil sharpener. Others were just as bad. The closest I came to being happy was with Mavala, which is a good product, provided it's fresh. However, the pencil is quite small. Sadly, I can no longer find the original Revlon brand from the states - they were the best. Rimmel came in a close second. But now, with Rimmel gone, I've continued my quest. I'm SO happy to find the Barry M and will now stock up. For what it's worth, I've used nail whitening pencils since I was 12 years old. I travelled with my father and we'd have manicures when we had our hair cut. My father always stressed the importance of clean, presentable hands in every environment. Now, I'm an ageing old Priest in my sixties. But even today, I occasionally have people comment on how clean and presentable my hands appear, especially when holding a Chalice during Mass. I highly recommend these! Well done Barry M!
