A Little Girl, A German Soldier, A Priest
I had to watch this twice and read reviews before I realized the meaning of the three miracles. A wonderful character driven film with a beginning zeroing in on a village, a little girl, her father, a priest and a wounded German soldier. Of course Ed Harris is in his prime, an astounding performance by Anne Heche and all other actors superb. A disillusioned priest who tastes the blood of a statue shredding the blood and the incredible meaning of this. The ending music is so lovely, just lovely. I bought the soundtrack to the movie (rather hard to find now) as I felt it was so lovely.

A Pure Movie, Beautiful Scenery
The movie is not truly based on the actual book of the same title. In fact, it is totally different; however I still enjoy the movie for its purity. There is something pure about this movie.

A Lost Gem
Though there are scenes missing, I find Jane Eyre with George C. Scott and Susannah York lovely. I remember seeing this version years and years ago, on my local KVCR channel back in the early 80s. I have a number of Jane Eyre adaptations (1983, 1997 and 2006) and though they are filmed much smarter, I float back to George C. Scott and Ms. York. Though there has been criticism about the age of both actors, they lend another dimension to their characters. And George C. Scott's Rochester is exactly as I had pictured in my mind when I read the book. He is ruggedly handsome, just sitting in a chair or standing without saying a word conveys an explosive presence. And Susannah York is just lovely. There has also been criticism about the ending, not enough passion but I felt it was so tender. "I've come home, let me stay."
