Intense and a real historical pageturner

Just love this book! The characterisation is brilliant and the story itself is intricate and unusual. I would recommend for anybody who loves historical fiction and/or loves Ellis Peters (Edith Pargeter's pen name for the Brother Cadfael whodunnits)
