Great long-term resource for knitters
This well-made hardback book has 50 different hat designs, a history of hats, outlines of traditional hat styles and a list of hat terms. Almost all hats have additional photos besides their full-page color photo, showing the crown or sides. This helps knitters decide what style they'd like to work.
Vogue Knitting tends to make high-quality books with high-quality content and this book is no exception.

Child's book about adapting to new life in a new land
Uplifting story about a little girl in India who is sent to live with relatives in England. She doesn't make any effort to fit in until 2 Japanese dolls arrive from a relative. The little girl decides to make a Japanese dollhouse to make the dolls feel more at home. The dollhouse project motivates the girl to do more than she was willing to do before. The project brings together many different people who each contribute something different to the dollhouse.
The book is very well written. The characters are realistic and believable. Good and bad things happen in a normal, every-day way - if you ignore the 2 Japanese dolls talking to each other and having feelings!
SOME editions of this book have instructions for building an authentic-looking miniature Japanese house. (That's why I bought this book!)
Both book and instructions are in English. The book is also a gentle introduction to Japanese culture.

Well-made book with great content for "Outlander" knitting fans
This is a high-quality, hardback book with SEWN (not glued) binding. This book will last for years! The book is full of large, color photos of the knitting projects and photos from "Outlander". There are knitting charts and instructions. There's a glossary, a technique-and-reference section, mini-bios on the designers and index. "Outlander" fans who knit will be very pleased with this book!
