Good value and can be improved
Out of the box it's Region-specific; it won't play Region 1 DVDs. But it can be fixed - converted to 'Region-free' (this review won't allow me to put in the direct link, so search VideoHelp for 'DVD Hacks » Panasonic DVD-S500 region code' where they have the re-programming details). I played a Region 1 DVD by doing this.

Good value
Good product.
Note that unless you're planning to fit direct to the outside tap, with micro-pipes from there, you'll probably need a couple extra connections (I did).
