Mr Lear by Jenny Uglow
A thoroughly researched biography, but not written in the sort of academic jargon that spoils so many works of non-fiction. It is a penetrating study of the great illustrator, painter and creator of nonsense verse. Highly recommended to all who like Lear, his verses and his marvellous illustrations of parrots and other exotic birds.
